Liberty General Insurance Berhad Empowers Schools Through ‘Serve with Liberty – Nurture with Furniture's Programme

Liberty General Insurance Berhad (Liberty) reaffirmed its commitment to serving the community through its 2025 #ServeWithLiberty employee volunteering programme, centered around the ‘Nurture with Furniture’ initiative. From 5 to 8 May, over 580 employees, known as Liberty Torchbearers, from Liberty’s Head Office and Klang Valley branches gathered at PARC Subang Jaya to construct bookshelves, wall shelves and shoe racks made from upcycled wood.

On 9 May 2025, Liberty officially donated 293 pieces of furniture, hand-built by Liberty Torchbearers to four schools located in Carey Island, namely, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Judah, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Bumbun, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Pulau Carey Barat and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Pulau Carey Timur.

The #ServeWithLiberty initiative saw enthusiastic participation from the Liberty Torchbearers who came together to assemble the furniture for these schools. This effort reflects the company’s broader vision of supporting education and community development.

“Our #ServeWithLiberty programme is all about empowering our people to give back to communities in meaningful and sustainable ways,” said Puneet Pasricha, Chief Executive Officer of Liberty General Insurance Berhad. “At Liberty, we believe that our strength as a company is not just measured by our success in business, but by the positive impact we make in the communities we serve.”

This initiative not only strengthened the unity and teamwork among employees but also reinforced Liberty’s dedication to corporate social responsibility. Through hands-on involvement, Liberty employees had the opportunity to directly contribute to improving educational facilities at rural schools, making a tangible difference in the lives of young learners.

The annual #ServeWithLiberty program continues to be a cornerstone of Liberty’s commitment to social impact, bringing employees together to make a difference through volunteering initiatives focused on environmental conservation, education and community well-being. This year’s #ServeWithLiberty exemplifies Liberty’s unwavering support for fostering a brighter future for underserved communities, especially the children.

Balik Kampung with the ultimate ‘Raya Santai-dilfitri’ road trip checklist!

A trip back home for Raya isn’t complete without checking off some classic balik kampung moments. How many can you tick off?

It’s that time of the year again. Raya is all about celebrating in good spirits, having santai time with family, and of course, going through the exciting balik kampung journey on the roads.

Whether you are cruising down the highway, caught in the festive rush, or making an impromptu R&R stop, keep your eyes peeled and check off some of the most memorable moments that make the ride back home a truly ‘Raya Santai-dilfitri’ adventure.

As you enjoy the journey, remember that a smooth ride starts with peace of mind. At Liberty General Insurance, they believe every balik kampung trip should be worry-free, so you can focus on creating cherishable and joyous memories with your loved ones this Raya season.

Check Off These Balik Kampung Moments:

● Santai at an R&R with some satay or nasi lemak

What’s a road trip balik kampung without a visit to an R&R? Some say it’s even tradition to fill the car with rest stop snacks and to refuel with some of your favourite foods.

● Blasting Raya songs on the highway

Putting Sudirman and Sharifah Aini in the Balik Kampung playlist is a must for setting the mood, with everyone in the car joining in a sing-along at full volume. Bonus points if you have already made a dedicated playlist for the journey!

● Getting caught in the legendary festive traffic jam

A true test of patience, but going through the Hari Raya traffic is also the perfect time to bond with your family! Stay santai and enjoy the ride with some road trip games like Eye Spy, or have a thorough catch-up session as you go through the congested roads together.

● Calling mum to ask, ‘Nak beli apa lagi?’

No matter how thorough the packing list is, there is always a last-minute request. It might range from something simple like raya cookies to extra baju raya, to an electric kettle or rice cooker. Whatever the request may be, how could you say no?

● Spotting an overloaded car packed with suitcases, pillows, and snack bags

On every Balik Kampung road trip, seeing that fully packed car can be amusing, but it just reminds us of the chaos and joy that Raya brings. And if you don’t spot a car like this on the way, look around – it may be your car that’s overpacked!

● Posting a classic ‘On the Way’ Insta story

No trip is complete without capturing the moment, especially with a scenic backdrop. Take a selfie with the gang as you embark on the highway, or take a santai video of the road from the side of your window to showcase that you’re on your journey-it’s all part of the balik kampung experience!
