Roadside Service Assistance Terms & Conditions
SECTION 1 -- DEFINITIONS
1.1 CUSTOMER
Shall mean the owner or the driver of the vehicle whom Liberty General Insurance Berhad has qualified to participate in the Liberty General Insurance Berhad Roadside Service Assistance Program and having his/her permanent Residence in Malaysia.
1.2 VEHICLE
Shall mean any duly registered private and/or company motor vehicle under one (1) tonne unlade weight (excluding trucks, taxis, commercial vehicles and all vehicles registered under Hire and Drive) belonging to the Customer and whom Liberty General Insurance Berhad have qualified to participate in the Liberty General Insurance Berhad Roadside Service Assistance Program, and complying with the relevant provisions, laws and regulations of the Road Transport Act 1987 Malaysia.
1.3 RESIDENCE
Customer’s permanent home address in Malaysia as indicated during the registration with Liberty General Insurance Berhad
1.4 APPROVED REPAIRER
Refers to any of the following:
- motor repair workshops which are on our panel of approved workshops; or
- any other repairer that we have given you special permission to use.
SECTION 2 -- AVAILABILITY OF ASSISTANCE SERVICES, LIMITATIONS AND LIABILITIES
2.1 AVAILABILITY OF ASSISTANCE SERVICES
The period of validity of the services mentioned in Section 3 are granted similar to the period of the validity of the Private Car Comprehensive Motor Insurance Policy with LIBERTY GENERAL INSURANCE BERHAD.
2.2 TERRITORIAL LIMITS
The services mentioned in Section 3 shall be available in all gazette road of Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak excluding all the Malaysian islands except Langkawi, Penang and Labuan which subject to clause 4.5.
2.3 LIABILITY OF Liberty General Insurance Berhad
Liberty General Insurance Berhad shall not be held responsible for delays or impediments in performing the assistance due to strike, war, invasion, act of armed hostilities (regardless of a formal declaration of war), civil war, terrorism, riot and civil commotion, radioactivity or any act of God or widespread catastrophe such as flood and earthquake or tidal wave.
It is understood that the towing truck, workshop, garage, chauffeur and any kind of professionals to whom the Customer will be referred to by Liberty General Insurance Berhad are for most part independent contractors responsible for their own acts and not employees, agents or servants of Liberty General Insurance Berhad.
Furthermore, Liberty General Insurance Berhad shall not be responsible for any act or failure to act on the part of those professionals such as, and not limited to, towing truck, workshop, garage, chauffeur, physicians and other professionals.
Liberty General Insurance Berhad shall not be responsible for any expenses, fees or charges under the benefits mentioned herein which is on a need basis and all costs shall be borne entirely and directly by the Customer except for Towing up to the mileage defined in the product disclosure sheet of policy subscribed. For an instance, a comprehensive private car policy will entitle towing up to 150km (roundtrip) for a total of 4 events per annum. Therefore, Customer is entitled for free services within the specified benefit described and Customer would only be required to bear the cost of Roadside Service Assistance when the mileage of services is beyond 150km for the first four service assistance requests or the entire Roadside Service Assistance cost for the fifth request onwards within the same policy year.
SECTION 3 -- ASSISTANCE SERVICES
Liberty General Insurance Berhad Roadside Service Assistance shall provide the following services to its Customer:
3.1 24 HOURS ROADSIDE SERVICE ASSISTANCE
If the vehicle breaks down and is immobilized in Malaysia, Liberty General Insurance Berhad will organize roadside service assistance to the mileage defined in the product disclosure sheet of policy subscribed. For an instance, a comprehensive private car policy will entitle assistance up to 150km (roundtrip) for a total of 4 events per annum.
The vehicle shall be towed to the nearest approved repairer or safe storage place or to the drivers/passengers place of residence or roadside repair if required.
Liberty General Insurance Berhad will not be held responsible for any cost of replacement of parts or damage to or theft of objects and accessories, which are left in or outside the vehicle.
Customers will enjoy towing or breakdown services per year in reference to the benefits available for policy subscribed and any additional towing or breakdown services will be provided at customer’s cost upon request. For an instance, a comprehensive private car policy will entitle towing up to 150km (roundtrip) for a total of 4 events per annum excluding Accident related Towing. All Breakdown Towing is allowed to a single destination only. The Towing Assistance for Breakdown does not cover from an approved repairer to another approved repairer therefore, in the event such services is required, the towing cost shall be borne by the customer. The Breakdown Towing is provided in view to enable customer assistance to obtain repair services from the nearest workshop available, thus mobilizing vehicles from workshop to another workshop is not covered within the free Roadside Service Assistance program.
3.2 BATTERY ASSIST SERVICES
In the event of a battery failure, Customer may request Liberty Roadside Service Assistance to provide a jump start assistance to enable him/ her to drive to the nearest workshop to have the battery replaced or repaired, or request for battery purchase services which is solely dependable on stock availability and customer acceptance to bear the cost of the new battery replacement for immediate installation.
3.3 ALTERNATIVE TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATION ASSISTANCE
In the event of an accident or breakdown, should an alternative travel and/or accommodation assistance be required; the customer may make a request to Liberty General Insurance Berhad to provide alternative travel assistance.
Upon receipt of such request from the customer, Liberty Roadside Service Assistance to arrange for alternative transportation and/or accommodation for the customers to continue their journey and/or if the customer needs to spend a night at a hotel should the vehicle breakdown and repair work cannot be completed. All costs incurred for alternative travel assistance will be borne totally and directly by the policy holder or customer.
3.4 PRIVILEGED CAR RENTAL
Customer shall be entitled up to thirty percent (30%) discount on published rates on car rental from Liberty Roadside Service Assistance car rental partners. All rentals and other costs incurred in relations to the rental of vehicle shall be borne by the Customer. The discount obtainable is based on the best quote available at the time. Customer may use his/her discretion before agreeing to subscribe ant services recommended.
3.5 EMERGENCY MESSAGE TRANSMISSION
In the event of an emergency, Liberty Roadside Service Assistance shall undertake to inform the Customer’s next of kin with a reasonable time frame from the time that it receives information of the incident.
3.6 EMERGENCY EVACUATION ASSISTANCE
In the event of an accident, Liberty Roadside Service Assistance shall arrange on a service basis an ambulance or other means of transportation to send the Customer to the nearest public or private medical centre or hospital. The cost for any medical treatment and the ambulance or other means of transportation received by the Customer shall be borne totally and directly by the Customer.
3.7 HOME ASSIST
Customer is entitled to request for the following services where the cost of repair will be borne entirely by customer:-
- Plumbing repair - arrangement for a competent service provider to assist in repair work.
- Air-conditioning service and repair - arrangement for a competent service provider to assist in repair work.
- Electrical wiring repair - arrangement for a competent service provider to assist in repair work.
- Locksmith - arrangement for a competent service provider to assist in repair work.
3.8 CONCIERGE ASSIST
- Hotel and restaurant reservations - arrangement to make reservations at Customer's preferred hotel and restaurant.
- Golf tee-off reservations - arrangement to make reservation at Customer's preferred golf club.
- Flower deliveries - arrangement for a florist to deliver bouquets and gifts.
- Ticket reservations - arrangement to make reservations for travel tickets to Customer's preferred destination.
3.9 INTERSTATE AMBULANCE SERVICE
Liberty Roadside Service Assistance shall organize transporting of Customer from one hospital or medical centre in one State to another hospital or medical centre of a different State. The cost shall be borne entirely by Customer.
3.10 INTERNATIONAL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AT NEIGHBOURING COUNTRIES – SINGAPORE, THAILAND & BRUNEI
Liberty Roadside Service Assistance will provide towing and repatriation services up to 100km (roundtrip) from Malaysian borders to the neighbouring countries specified above. Cost of additional mileage beyond the specified will be borne by Customer. Once repatriated or towed to Malaysian territory, the Customer’s local Roadside Service Assistance coverage will apply.
SECTION 4 -- CUSTOMER OBLIGATIONS AND PROCEDURES
4.1 REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE
In case of assistance, and prior to taking personal action, the Customer or his/her representative shall call Liberty General Insurance Berhad’s twenty-four (24) hours Emergency Hotline and furnish details such as:
- His/her name, the vehicle registration number and NRIC number.
- The name of the place, exact location with landmark (if necessary) and telephone number where Liberty Roadside Service Assistance can reach the Customer or his/her representative.
- A brief description of the emergency and the nature of the assistance required.

4.2 APPROVED REPAIRER
In the event your car meets with an accident, you will need to send your car to our panel of approved workshops or any other repairer that we have given you special permission to use.
4.3 CO-OPERATION WITH Liberty General Insurance Berhad
The Customer shall cooperate with Liberty Roadside Service Assistance to allow access to obtain all original documents and receipts from relevant sources on behalf of the Customer and Liberty General Insurance Berhad where applicable in pursuit to provide the service assistance without interruption.
4.4 LIMITATION ON ASSISTANCE CASES
Any Assistance rendered which is related to a claim must be requested or filed within fourteen (14) working days of the occurrence of such event failing which will be subject to forfeiture.
4.5 SPECIAL REQUEST
Customer who request for carrier or use of ‘baby tyre or dolly wheel’ will be free of charge.
Other requisition involving special equipment such as crane and large trailers may incur cost that to be borne by Customer.
4.6 CHARGES PER BILL
In the event Customer require services in certain geographical location especially in certain areas such as Penang, Langkawi, Labuan, Genting Highlands, Cameron Highlands and Fraser Hill and any other highlands that may not recognize the mileage or km of services, customer will be entitled to free services up to RM 300 (Inclusive Goods and Sales or Services Tax whichever applicable), where Customer may only be required to bear the differential sum for cases where the towing cost may be higher. (Example: If the bill is amounting to RM350.00 (Inclusive Goods and Sales or Services Tax whichever applicable), customers may only need to pay RM50.00 as Liberty General Insurance Berhad covers up to a maximum of RM300.00 per Towing event. especially in certain areas such as Penang, Langkawi, Labuan, Genting Highlands, Cameron Highlands and Fraser Hill and any other highlands
SECTION 5 -- GENERAL EXCLUSIONS
5.1 OWNER’S PRESENT
Customer must be at the location of incident for verification. Liberty Roadside Service Assistance reserves the right to deny the service if the Customer of the vehicle is not available prior to providing roadside assistance.
5.2 Liberty General Insurance Berhad shall not be held responsible for the provision of the assistance services in respect of:
- Any person who drives the said vehicle who does not hold a valid license issued by the relevant authority.
- Vehicle modified for racing, trials or rallying or participating in such activities.
- Any call for assistance made by the Customer on behalf of his/her relative(s) or friends(s) which their vehicles is not listed as Liberty General Insurance Berhad Customer.
- Vehicle number that does not tally with the number registered with Liberty General Insurance Berhad, meaning the programmed is only applicable to the registered vehicle and not the Customer.
- Any expenses directly paid by the Customer to any third party without prior authorization from Liberty General Insurance Berhad or Liberty Roadside Service Assistance, the vehicle shall be borne totally and directly by the Customer.
- Any vehicle carrying more passengers or towing greater weight than for which it was designed as stated in the manufacturer’s specification or arising directly or indirectly from or out of the unreasonable driving of the vehicle on unsuitable terrain.
- Any Customer who have failed to take all reasonable precautions to maintain his/her vehicle in an efficient roadworthy condition.
- Any vehicle left unattended for a period of a day (24 hours) or more which later culminate the problem of either the vehicle cannot be started due to weak battery, spoilt alternator, flat tyre or any other related cause.
- Mechanical breakdown due to lack of engine oil, petrol, water and/or frost damage. Upon request from the Customer, Liberty Roadside Service Assistance may provide assistance for such incidences subject to payment by Customer of all actual costs involved.
- Ignition key accidentally left and was locked from inside the said vehicle.
- Change of flat tyre will be entertained only when Customer keeps a good spare tyre that is roadworthy.
- The Company shall not be liable for any vehicle assistance that is caused by or attributed to the act of cheating by any person within the meaning of the definition of the offence of cheating set out in the Penal Code.
- Cost of services on accident case that are duly covered by a motor policy and against which a claim from the insurance company concerned is also being made or otherwise.
- Any accident, Mechanical breakdown, flat tyre and/or the said vehicle was immobilized on all the Malaysia Islands except Pulau Pinang, Langkawi and Labuan.
- Loss or damage directly or indirectly occasioned as a consequence of war, invasion, act of God, act of foreign enemies, hostilities whether war be declared or not, civil war, rebellion, insurrection, terrorism, military and usurped power, riot or commotion.
- Any customer found intoxicated with alcohol, drugs or any other substances during service.
- Liberty General Insurance Berhad will not be held responsible or be liable for the failure on the part of Liberty General Insurance Berhad to render, provide or pay for the said benefits and entitlements to the Customers as stipulated herein.
