Kuala Lumpur, 2 August 2023 – AmGeneral Insurance Berhad is thrilled to announce that the company will be donating 150 laptops to eleven schools nationwide, in a bid to support and ensure greater learning opportunities for the underprivileged students. This initiative will be coordinated together with the Financial Industry Collective Outreach (FINCO), as part of a joint corporate social responsibility (CSR) program – Generasi Ceria Belajar, in lieu of the government’s effort to alleviate the financial difficulties faced by the lower income community.
Supporting AmGeneral in facilitating the delivery of laptops to the respective schools, FINCO is a collaborative initiative pioneered by the financial industry in Malaysia whose mission is to deliver sustainable and impactful education to the underprivileged community. The collaboration with FINCO ensures that these laptops reach the schools that need them the most, in Perak, Selangor, Johor, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak.
“We understand that education is a fundamental right and we are deeply committed to enhancing access to better learning opportunities especially for the lesser fortunate children. We want to help prevent digital disparity by ensuring our future generation is well equipped and no one gets left behind in this digital and technologically driven era,” said Puneet Pasricha, Chief Executive Officer of AmGeneral Insurance Berhad.
Giving these laptops a second home is a further testament to AmGeneral’s commitment to the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda of reducing waste, reusing resources and recycling electronics. Aside from AmGeneral’s deep-rooted devotion towards protecting the environment and sustainable efforts, AmGeneral also believes strongly in equal education opportunities for all.
The laptops will be donated to SJK (Tamil) Mahathma Ghandi Kalasalai Kuala Kangsar, SMK USJ 12 Subang Jaya, SMK Sepagaya Lahad Datu, SMK Perempuan Sandakan, SK Batu Putih Baru Sandakan, SK Jaya Bakti Beluran, SK Batu Putih Baru Sandakan, SK Felda Lok Heng Kota Tinggi, SK Kita Kampung Sepupok Niah and SMK Merchang, Marang.
